It is the most talked about community event in recent times, and all were dazzled at the just concluded Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (Canuk) gala dinner night.

The Regency Banquent Suite hall, the venue of the event, was full to its capacity, and different shades of colourful African attires radiated the atmosphere. People came to merry, mingle, network, and catch up with old friends and the Canuk dinner provided that platform for it.

Nigerians from the North to the south, Middle belt, Niger Delta, East, and West were fully represented. It was a carnival. Food, drinks, music, dance, and cultural displays all made it a memorable occasion. It was indeed the party of the year!

The sponsors were delighted, including the likes of Tropical Sun, Providus Bank, Kato Enterptises, Ades Supermarket, Eniola Foods, Send APP, Pedigreat Houses, etc. Heritage TVwas on ground for a full coverage of the event with their most sort after massive digital display as Bisi Oloni's multivision productions were well positioned with their mobile studio, documenting the night's memory in digital forms.

Miliki Spot provided the meal to the delight of all. The food list was endless as asaro yam porridge, abula, pounded yam, ayamase, banga soup, edikaikong, bitter leaf soup, jollof rice, fried rice, tuwo sinkafa, ewa agoyin, etc, were all served on the night.

Kakaki, the saxophonist, got everyone on their feet dancing non-stop. DJ Hon Finest then serenaded the crowd with blasts from the past.

The acting high commissioner who attended with his entourage blended in perfectly and interacted with every member of the community. He danced with the various groups that performed the Swange dance,- the Mutuk Tiv group, the Anambra women's group, who dazzled in their colourful attires and the historical rich and dynamic Eyo display-It was magnificent!

Other dignitries who graced the events were the host of the night, the Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Lester Buxto, and the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Micheal Shittu The event was also heavily supported by community leaders, including Otunba and Mrs Bimbo Folayan Roberts who represented Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairperson of NiDCOM, Dr and Mrs Boma Douglas, Dr Jenny Okafor, Dr Malcom Benso, etc.

The co MCs for the night were such a perfect blend of Dapo Oloja and Rose Peter Graham, who together were reeling out jokes, coordinating the programme and giving out positive vibes.

Kudos must be given to the entire Canuk executive committee who had sleepless nights putting the event together, especially the social secretary Toyin S. Balogun, with her ever busy schedule. The success-driven Canuk chairman Ayo Akinfe commended his team and promised the community an even bigger and better event in 2024.
