The Access Bank Polo Day once again took centre stage, gathering the crème de la crème of society in a glittering effort to raise funds for charity, foster education, and build schools for the underprivileged The event, renowned for its unparalleled style, panache, and sophistication, solidified its status as one of the UK's most prestigious networking occasions. However, this year’s event was marked by a poignant difference: the absence of music.
Photo from last year's Access Bank Polo Day - First from right - Late Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, his late wife, and other dignitaries
The program proceeded in silence, a subtle yet powerful tribute to the late Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Managing Director of Access Bank Holdings, who tragically lost his life alongside his wife and son in a helicopter accident in America.
Dr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CON, Executive Chairman, Access Holdings Plc, with some of his guests at the event.
Herbert Wigwe was the lifeblood of Access Bank's charitable endeavours. Known for his vibrant presence, Herbert was the soul of past Polo Days, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and cherished. His commitment to charity was profound, his spirit was indomitable. This year, his absence was deeply felt, casting a reflective mood over the festivities.
The silent tribute to Herbert Wigwe was a powerful reminder of life's fragility, leaving attendees to ponder the unpredictable nature of existence. His legacy, however, remains unshaken. It was heartening to see Access Bank in capable hands, with the executives and staff present at the event embodying the values and excellence Herbert championed.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the beautiful moments we’ve documented, each photograph a testament to the event’s elegance and Herbert Wigwe’s enduring legacy.
