Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are about to become in-laws after their children, Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, are officially engaged. The couple shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting a heartfelt video of the proposal.


In their Instagram post, the couple wrote, “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”

In the video, 35-year-old Eric, proposed to Jasmin, who is 28 years old, in a romantic setup with flower petals, candles, and a giant red heart filled with butterflies. Jasmin happily accepted, showing off her stunning engagement ring and sharing a kiss with Eric.


Eric and Jasmin began dating in July 2021, according to TMZ. Eric is Eddie Murphy’s oldest son with Paulette McNeely, while Jasmin is Martin Lawrence’s first child with Patricia Southall.


Eddie and Martin have been close friends and co-stars over the years. The two actors have worked together on movies like the 1993 romantic comedy Boomerang and the 1999 film Life.


Despite Eddie and Martin’s long-standing friendship, it was not them who introduced the couple to each other. Jasmin revealed they met through her uncle before they became really good friends and bonded over their similar backgrounds.
