Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged his supporters to prioritize legal advocacy over emotional pleas regarding his case. He emphasized that the pursuit of self-determination is a protected legal right under both Nigerian and international law.

Speaking through his legal representative, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu reiterated that his release should follow the judicial process, as affirmed by existing court rulings.

"Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains firm that self-determination is not a crime. It is recognized by Nigerian law and supported by international conventions," Ejimakor stated. "Instead of appealing for clemency, advocates should focus on the legal grounds that have already been established by various judicial bodies."

He expressed appreciation for peaceful advocacy efforts across Igboland and highlighted the need to respect the rule of law. According to Ejimakor, "The courts have spoken. Now, it's up to the relevant authorities to act in line with those decisions."

Kanu also acknowledged the support of notable groups like Afenifere, Ohaneze, and the World Igbo Congress (WIC), which continue to advocate for a peaceful resolution based on legal principles.

As the legal process unfolds, Kanu remains optimistic about a resolution founded on justice and adherence to legal standards.
