The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, emphasized that true peace cannot equate to the surrender of Ukraine.

During a joint news conference with Donald Trump at the White House on the evening of February 24, he expressed concern about a future where the strongest prevail.

“This peace cannot mean the surrender of Ukraine. Over the past few years, Ukraine has fought for its independence and sovereignty, which also contributes to our collective security,” Macron stated.

“I believe no one here desires a world governed by the law of the strongest, where international borders can be disregarded at will,” he added.

Macron's comments followed the Trump administration's initiative to engage in dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin in pursuit of a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict that began three years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine.

In a notable departure from his predecessor, Joe Biden, Trump is reportedly negotiating a deal with Ukraine regarding its vast mineral resources and rare earth gems, which is a precondition for the U.S. to continue its military support to the war-torn nation.
