The United States government has firmly stated that discussions regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO are off the table, as President Donald Trump seeks to address the ongoing three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.

“That is not back on the table. I do not see the United States allowing Ukraine to enter into NATO,” U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Waltz told Fox News on Monday.

“We are absolutely committed to NATO at large, our Article Five treaty agreements with other NATO countries, but the security guarantees for Ukraine are a different conversation,” Waltz added.

Waltz's remarks came on the heels of comments from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who expressed a willingness to resign for the sake of establishing peace in Ukraine during a press conference in Kyiv.

Zelenskyy suggested he could trade his position for NATO membership for Ukraine, stating, “Yes, I’m happy if it is for the peace of Ukraine. If you need me to leave this chair, I am ready to do that, and I also can exchange it for NATO membership for Ukraine.”
