A tourist has lost both her hands in a shark assault after attempting to "lock in" with the creature for a photograph.

The Canadian lady, named locally Nathalie Ross, 55, was gone after in shallow waters off Thompson's Bay Ocean side on the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean at around 10.30am on February 7.

It's accepted her better half endeavored to fend the shark off before she was brought to shore.

Photographs show Ms. Ross lying on the oceanfront as her better half and others attempt to stop the dying.

Roseonallsides reports the lady lost both her hands and was likewise bitten on her thigh.

She was transported to the medical clinic and is supposed to make due.

"The shark was assessed to be roughly 6 feet long, but the species is yet to be affirmed," the Turks and Caicos Islands government said in a proclamation, reports the Miami Envoy.

"It has been resolved that the vacationer had endeavored to draw in with the creature from the shallows trying to take photos."

Thompson's Bay Oceanside is in the Blue Slopes settlement, on the north side of Providenciales, the country's fundamental island.

Government authorities shut the oceanside until late morning on February 9. After it was resolved, the shark had moved to more profound water.

Footage has since been shared of a shark flailing wildly in the water close to where the assault occurred.
