Disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs faces serious allegations of sexual assault in a new civil lawsuit filed by an anonymous man from Southern California, under the pseudonym John Doe. The complaint, presented in New York County Supreme Court and reported by USA TODAY, claims that the incident occurred on the set of a high-profile commercial in either 2022 or 2023.
According to the suit, Doe, who identifies himself as a "photographer/production assistant," struck up a conversation with Combs during filming. Doe alleges that the rapper invited him into his trailer, where he allegedly demanded oral sex in exchange for career advancement, stating, “make your career take off.” The lawsuit describes this encounter as a "blatant sexual quid-pro-quo."
The legal documents highlight Doe's reluctance, as he felt pressured by the implication that declining Combs' demands could jeopardize his future in the industry. The lawsuit reads, "Combs framed this meeting as an opportunity for [Doe] to advance his career. [Doe], although hesitant, could not turn down what appeared to be a career-defining moment few ever receive."
Although Doe claims not to recall the specifics of why Combs was present on set—pointing out that high-profile individuals are not always listed on call sheets—he alleges sexual battery and is requesting a jury trial.
Responding to the allegations, Combs' legal team issued a statement affirming his innocence, insisting that "no matter how many lawsuits are filed — especially by individuals who refuse to put their own names behind their claims — it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone; man or woman, adult or minor." The statement concluded, "We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth, and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail in court."
