Constituents from Kogi Central have officially submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the National Assembly.

The petition, which garnered over 250,000 signatures representing more than half of the 480,000 registered voters in the district was delivered on Monday at INEC's Lokoja office by Ms. Charity Ijese, acting on behalf of the constituents.

The petitioners allege that Akpoti-Uduaghan has engaged in gross misconduct, abused her office, and circumvented established processes, claiming her behavior has brought disrepute to Kogi Central and undermined the integrity of the Senate. They are urging INEC to commence the recall process and declare her seat vacant, referencing Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution.

After the petition submission, Ijese and fellow constituents reiterated their determination to ensure the recall process is completed within the stipulated 90 days.
