The Kremlin has addressed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about being “very angry” and “pissed off” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump was reacting to reports that Putin proposed placing Ukraine under a "temporary administration" and removing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while both nations work toward a peace deal.

Speaking on Monday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that some of Trump’s remarks were paraphrased rather than direct quotes, acknowledging that “various statements” have been made.

Peskov emphasized that Moscow remains engaged in dialogue with Washington to restore bilateral relations and work toward peace in Ukraine.

“We continue to work with the American side, primarily on rebuilding our bilateral relations, which suffered significant damage during the previous administration,” Peskov said during a press briefing.

He added that discussions regarding Ukraine are ongoing but that there are no concrete updates yet.

When asked whether a call between Putin and Trump was scheduled for this week, Peskov said it was not currently planned but could be arranged swiftly “if necessary.”
