Former President Donald Trump stirred controversy once again during the Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs this time by taking a swipe at pop icon Taylor Swift.
While congratulating the Eagles on their decisive 40-22 win, Trump couldn’t resist referencing Swift, who is famously dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and has become a visible supporter of the team.
Reflecting on his attendance at the Super Bowl, Trump said, “It was an incredible game. A little surprising, but right from the beginning of the first quarter, I was there. I watched it in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift how did that work out?” The pointed comment follows a pattern of Trump’s public criticisms of the singer.
Earlier this year, the former president used his Truth Social platform to mock Swift after she was reportedly booed during the Super Bowl, writing, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” In September 2024, after Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president, Trump posted, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
Despite the dig, the Eagles’ visit went ahead without further disruption. Trump praised the team's controversial but effective “Tush Push” play a tactic that has faced scrutiny from the NFL and lauded the team’s overall performance.
Notably absent from the ceremony were Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts, and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who was previously involved in a White House mishap during an earlier team celebration.
