Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has taken a public swipe at popular gospel singer Tope Alabi after the latter reportedly refused to perform at a surprise birthday celebration organized in Lizzy’s honor.

According to reports, Lizzy’s fan club, in collaboration with her husband, planned a surprise birthday event and invited Tope Alabi to perform believing Lizzy to be a huge fan of the gospel artist. Tope and her husband, Soji Alabi, arrived at Lizzy’s clothing store in Lagos but declined to sing after realizing the purpose of the visit.

The unexpected decision sparked conversation on social media, with many speculating about the reason behind Tope’s refusal.

Responding to the incident in a video posted on Instagram, Lizzy said she did not blame the Alabis for their reaction but criticized her fans for spending lavishly on the surprise instead of supporting her business ventures.

“I don’t celebrate birthdays. Only a wicked person would say I do. I’m not in a position to judge their [the Alabis’] reaction, but if I had personally invited them, I wouldn’t have paid them anything,” she said.

However, in a follow-up video, Lizzy became more direct, questioning Tope Alabi’s societal impact and accusing her of projecting a holier-than-thou image.

“I am holier than you, Aunty Tope,” Lizzy declared.
“If we’re to talk about societal impact, I have empowered more lives than you. The people you empowered are those who fed off you personally—not the society at large. I have done more good, I have added more value to people’s lives.”

She added:
“If I begin to count everything I’ve done, it’ll take more than a year. I am pure. If you judge me, I am thankful that God does not judge me.”

The actress’s statements have since gone viral, stirring heated debates online between supporters of both entertainers.
