Former Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has voiced his hope that Victor Osimhen will soon make a move to the English Premier League.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS during Soccer Sunday Live, Mikel reacted to reports linking the Napoli striker currently on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray to Manchester United. He, however, dismissed the Red Devils as a viable option if they fail to secure European football next season.
“If that’s the case, then he doesn’t go to United,” Mikel said firmly when asked if the absence of European competition could affect Osimhen's transfer options.
The former Chelsea star also hinted that the 25-year-old forward has a strong interest in joining the Blues.
“I know he wants to play for Chelsea,” Mikel revealed. “I know where we stopped in terms of the contract last summer. It’s an easy fix. We did all the hard work then it’s so easy to just pick it up.”
Pressed further on Osimhen’s likely destination, Mikel remained cautious: “I hope somewhere in the Premier League. I don’t know; we wait and see.”
Osimhen has been in sensational form this season with Galatasaray, netting 21 goals and providing four assists in just 25 league appearances, further fueling speculation about a high-profile summer transfer.
