Kim Kardashian made a bold statement ahead of the trial of her alleged Paris robbers, flaunting diamond-studded anklets in a series of Instagram posts from her recent trip to Maui.

The rare display of extravagant jewelry comes nearly a decade after Kardashian vowed to stop wearing flashy pieces, following the traumatic 2016 Paris robbery where she was bound, gagged, and held at gunpoint while nearly $10 million worth of jewelry was stolen.

In the new posts, Kardashian prominently showcased four dazzling, diamond-encrusted ankletsa clear departure from the understated style she had adopted since the heist. The timing of her posts is notable, as the group accused of the robbery, known as the "Grandpa Robbers," have just begun trial proceedings. Kardashian is expected to travel to Paris next month to testify.

During the 2016 incident, one of the items stolen was her $4 million engagement ring from Kanye West, which she had shared on social media shortly before the robbery. The ordeal left a lasting impact on Kardashian, leading her to largely avoid flaunting jewelry in her daily life and public appearances.

While she has occasionally donned lavish pieces for major events such as her diamond-studded ensemble at a 2024 wedding in India, or when she wore Princess Diana’s iconic amethyst cross pendant, purchased for nearly $200,000 at a Sotheby’s auction such displays have been rare. Notably, she even had a public meltdown after momentarily losing a large diamond during the Indian wedding festivities.

Despite these few exceptions, Kardashian has maintained a relatively restrained public image regarding jewelry over the years. Her recent Instagram showcase marks a striking shift appearing to send a defiant message to those who once tried to silence and intimidate her: she remains unapologetically bold and unbroken.
