In a video clip that recently went viral, the Lagos transport union leader was seen addressing a crowd where he responded to ridicule over his mispronunciation of the word “kudos” which he pronounced as “Kundus.”
Unfazed by the criticism, MC Oluomo defended himself passionately, stressing that while he may not be fluent in English, his success in life speaks volumes.
"I stayed there and worked hard, but I wasn’t educated. They said I said Kundus is Kundus not my son? You’re educated, but what have you achieved? Let them compete with my children. I raised them in wealth. My kids are citizens of America and the UK. I worked hard to reach that level. Kundus, kudos, what’s the difference? What do you want to hear? English is not my mother tongue Yoruba is,” he said.
MC Oluomo, who began his journey as a bus conductor in Lagos and rose to become the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, used the moment to reflect on his path to success.
He emphasized that despite lacking formal education, determination, street-smart strategies, and resilience helped him achieve a life many aspire to especially in securing a prosperous future for his family.
