The incident occurred at around 10:10 a.m. on April 25, 2025, in front of a clinic in Metro Prima, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The victim, Corporal Danielrul Azraq Ahmad Khair, is attached to the Sentul district police mobile patrol unit.
Appearing before Magistrate S. Mageswary on Wednesday, April 30, Obianke who was unrepresented maintained his innocence, telling the court, "I am not guilty." He also claimed the incident was unintentional.
The charge, brought under Section 325 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine if convicted. Bail was denied, and the court set June 10 for the appointment of legal counsel and submission of case documents.
In a separate proceeding before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed@Mohamad Saim, Obianke also pleaded not guilty to two additional charges:
-
Not possessing valid travel documents, under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act (punishable by a fine of up to RM10,000, up to five years in prison, and a minimum of six strokes of the cane), and
-
Consuming nimetazepam, a banned substance under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries up to RM5,000 in fines or two years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
These offences allegedly occurred at the same location on April 25 and later at the Narcotics Investigations Department on April 26. The court scheduled July 23 for further mention of these charges.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed that the corporal had lost part of his left ear after being bitten by an “aggressive foreigner” responding to a distress call at the clinic. Staff had contacted authorities after the suspect reportedly began acting erratically.
On Tuesday, Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari stated that the corporal’s severed ear had yet to be reattached due to infection concerns. Doctors at Kuala Lumpur Hospital are expected to reassess his condition before deciding whether surgery is viable.
