The Labour Party in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has reaffirmed its support for Governor Alex Otti, stating that he is working closely with party leaders to safeguard the party from impostors and internal sabotage.

Reacting to recent accusations that Governor Otti is undermining the party’s leadership, Apostle Uche Enwereji, Chairman of the Labour Party in Obingwa, described such claims as baseless, malicious, and aimed at distracting the Governor from his ongoing infrastructural renewal drive in the state.

“The Labour Party in Obingwa and across Abia has taken note of a malicious publication seeking to discredit Governor Alex Otti. These unfounded allegations, made by one Comrade Henry Ikonne, lack credibility and appear to be fueled by personal motives,” Enwereji stated.

He questioned Ikonne’s legitimacy, saying, “Comrade Henry Ikonne is unknown to the Labour Party at Alaukwu Ohanze Ward 7 and Obingwa LGA. He has not been active in any party activities, nor did he show support for Governor Otti during or after the 2023 elections. His claims portray him as an impostor seeking undue attention.”

Enwereji emphasized that Governor Otti has remained steadfast in upholding the Labour Party’s constitution and ideals, working within the framework of the party to foster growth, unity, and stability.

“Since assuming office, Governor Otti has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the party’s principles, delivering visible development across Abia State. Any suggestion that he is using his office to undermine party leadership is without foundation,” he said.

Addressing concerns over the Abia Arise initiative, Enwereji dismissed allegations that it is being politicized. “Abia Arise is a development-driven platform focused on socio-economic empowerment. Claims of disrespect to party executives and favoritism are equally unfounded. Governor Otti continues to work collaboratively with Labour Party leaders.”

He called on the public to disregard the smear campaign and recognize the Governor’s genuine dedication to both the Labour Party and the people of Abia State.

“Governor Otti's unwavering commitment to transformative governance is evident in the numerous ongoing projects ranging from infrastructure and healthcare to education. These achievements speak louder than any politically motivated attack,” he concluded.

“The people of Abia State are discerning and will not be swayed by desperate attempts to tarnish the Governor’s reputation. His leadership continues to chart a path toward a brighter future for all.”
