Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to assassinate her.

Speaking at her homecoming rally on Tuesday, April 1, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that while the plot was not made public, she had already reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police.

Alleged Conspiracy and Secret Meetings

Detailing the events, she claimed that Akpabio initially tried to pressure Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo into initiating a recall process against her. However, when Ododo refused, citing her strong grassroots support, Akpabio allegedly turned to Yahaya Bello, offering to fund the recall.

"On March 14, at about 10:30 p.m., I received calls that Gov. Yahaya Bello was meeting with Akpabio. Two days earlier, Akpabio had called Governor Ododo, telling him to begin my recall, but Ododo refused, saying the masses were with me," she stated.

"Akpabio was not satisfied. He then summoned Yahaya Bello, and it was actually Senator Asuquo from Cross River who drove Bello from the Hilton Hotel to the meeting. I was informed of everything."

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the meeting had two key agendas:

  1. To fund and execute her recall from the Senate.

  2. To eliminate her.

She alleged that Akpabio told Bello to ensure the assassination happened in Kogi, rather than in Abuja, so it would appear to be a local attack by her own people.

"I did not make this public immediately, but I went straight to the Inspector General of Police," she revealed.
