Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has officially stepped down from his role.
According to Daily Trust, the respected former spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) submitted his resignation about two weeks ago.
Presidency sources say Dr. Baba-Ahmed offered no detailed explanation for his departure, simply citing personal reasons.
Appointed in September 2023, Baba-Ahmed served in the Office of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, where he represented the presidency at various key engagements. One of his most recent appearances was at the national conference titled “Strengthening Nigeria’s Democracy: Pathway to Good Governance and Political Integrity”, held in Abuja from January 28 to 29, 2025.
