Prominent activist and social commentator, VeryDarkman, has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the recent arrest of billionaire businessman Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, reportedly for alleged Naira abuse.

In a video shared online, VeryDarkman accused the EFCC of applying double standards in its enforcement of laws, claiming that individuals from certain ethnic backgrounds particularly the Igbo are being unfairly targeted. He referenced a previous incident involving the children of renowned industrialist Rasak Okoya, who, despite engaging in similar acts of currency abuse, were not subjected to any known disciplinary action.

“About 50 men stormed E-Money’s house and arrested him over an incident where his leg allegedly touched the Naira. Meanwhile, nothing was done when Okoya’s children did the same thing,” VeryDarkman stated.

He further alleged ethnic bias, writing in the caption of his video:
“@iam_emoney1 is currently in @officialefcc custody allegedly. I am beginning to believe there might be a vendetta against the Igbos. Igbos, be careful—they are coming for you. OKOYA’S CHILDREN ARE STILL WALKING FREELY.”

The arrest has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for equal application of the law regardless of status or ethnicity.
