As the 2027 general elections approach, members of the Ambode Support Group (ASG) have pledged to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms for former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, should he decide to contest.
The group also shed light on the renewed calls by Lagos residents for Ambode’s return to office, citing his impactful legacy during his tenure from 2015 to 2019.
Ambode, who governed Lagos for a single term, was denied a second-term ticket after losing the APC primary in 2018. However, his supporters argue that his performance, not politics, should define his place in leadership.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Monday, Dr. Olumuyiwa Olusi, Deputy Director of Mobilisation for the ASG, said Ambode’s projects continue to positively impact the lives of Lagosians.
Former Governor Ambode still commands immense support from Lagos residents, many of whom were direct beneficiaries of his people-oriented policies,” Olusi stated.
His exit from office was not due to poor performance. In fact, his achievements in infrastructure, human capital development, and overall urban transformation remain visible across the state.
He added that the group’s readiness to fund his nomination forms was a symbol of solidarity and a call for Ambode to complete the vision he began for a greater Lagos.
