Human rights lawyer and political activist Dele Farotimi has reaffirmed his unwavering support for Peter Obi, stating that he would vote for the former Anambra State governor again if he contests in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Farotimi described ongoing discussions about the 2027 elections as premature and distracting, given the country’s current political and socio-economic climate.

“If elections where our votes actually count were to hold today, I would vote for Peter Gregory Obi—unless someone else emerges who I believe can do better,” he said. “If it’s the same lineup as the last time, my vote goes to Peter Obi.”

Farotimi added that while he hopes Obi will be bolder with his policy proposals moving forward, the former Labour Party candidate still stands out in terms of competence and integrity.

“Something drastic would have to happen for me to reconsider—perhaps if he aligns with individuals I find unacceptable. But barring that, there’s no one else I would support.”

The lawyer, who served as spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 elections, reiterated that his stance is driven by a genuine desire for a better Nigeria.

“I think conversations about the 2027 elections at this point are a disservice. We should be focused on addressing the systemic issues affecting the nation, not distracted by premature political calculations.”
