Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked speculation about his future with Al-Nassr following a cryptic message shared on social media.

Taking to his official X account (formerly Twitter), the Portuguese star wrote:
"This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."

The post came shortly after Al-Nassr’s dramatic 3-2 loss to Al-Fateh, despite leading 2-1 with just 10 minutes remaining. The defeat sealed a third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League behind rivals Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.

At 40, Ronaldo’s message has been widely interpreted as a sign that he may be preparing for a new chapter away from Al-Nassr, whom he joined in early 2023 after his second stint with Manchester United.

Despite a trophyless campaign, Ronaldo had an impressive season individually, finishing as the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer with 24 goals.

Adding to the speculation, FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently hinted at Ronaldo’s possible appearance at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup even though Al-Nassr did not qualify for the newly expanded 32-team tournament, set to take place in the United States.

In a surprise interview with popular streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino stated:
"Ronaldo might play for one of the teams at the Club World Cup. There are discussions."

When pressed further, he reiterated:
"Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs. If any club is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the tournament… who knows?"

While Ronaldo has not confirmed his next move, his recent post suggests that fans may soon see him don a different jersey  potentially on a global stage once again.
