The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl, renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025.

The rescue operation was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command on May 8, 2025, following a joint effort with the Department of State Services (DSS), Abia, who apprehended the suspected trafficker and handed them over to the agency.

According to a statement released by NAPTIP on Friday, May 9, the suspect is believed to have collaborated with three trafficking syndicates based in Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for N100,000.

NAPTIP has launched an appeal to the public for assistance in locating the girl’s biological parents or any relatives.

“Investigations are ongoing. NAPTIP is calling on the biological parents or any relatives of the child to urgently contact the Agency,” the statement said.
