Former Vice Presidents Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo on Friday paid a courtesy visit to former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, at his country home in Ilesa, Osun State.

The visit took place just hours before the coronation ceremony of the 49th Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.

A video shared by Atiku on his official X handle captured the moment he arrived at Aregbesola’s residence. The former governor personally received him at the entrance, and both men were seen entering the home together, flanked by supporters.

“Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola,” Atiku captioned the video.

The gathering also drew notable political figures from Osun State, including former APC Chairman Lowo Adebiyi, Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, former Secretary to the State Government Moshood Adeoti, and former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam.

Atiku’s visit is viewed by many as part of wider consultations and coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier in the day, Atiku had posted his arrival at the Akure Airport in Ondo State, writing:

“I was warmly received by stakeholders on arrival at the Akure Airport in Ondo State, ahead of the coronation of the 49th HRH Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup today.”
