A state of emergency has been declared in Novorossiisk, a strategic Russian port city on the Black Sea, following a suspected Ukrainian drone strike early Saturday, May 3. The attack reportedly damaged a grain terminal and several residential buildings, injuring at least five people.

Mayor Andrei Kravchenko shared footage on his official Telegram channel showing the aftermath—shattered windows, collapsed balconies, and debris-strewn streets. One vehicle was seen crushed under rubble. Among the injured, a woman remains in critical condition, while two children were also hurt, according to local officials.

Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that debris from intercepted drones struck three grain storage facilities at the city’s terminal, sparking a fire. While the terminal sustained damage, no casualties were reported at the site.

The Delo Group, which operates the affected facility, stated that the fire had been extinguished and that cleanup efforts were ongoing. The company added that its DeloPorts terminals remained fully operational and were following all emergency protocols.

Ukraine has not officially commented on the alleged drone strike. However, Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched a massive overnight assault involving 183 drones and two ballistic missiles.
