Speaking at the APC Renewed Hope Agenda Summit held at the State House Conference Centre, the President said he was pleased with his administration’s achievements and the direction of the APC.
“You don’t expect people to remain in a sinking ship without a life jacket,” Tinubu said. “I am happy with what we have accomplished and expect more people to join us—that’s the game.”
His remarks were shared by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
The summit was attended by key party stakeholders, including members of the National Working Committee, leaders of the National Assembly, and governors from the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of economic reforms initiated under his administration, stating that the efforts have received both domestic and international recognition. He reiterated that while the reforms have been tough, they are essential for long-term national prosperity.
“A one-party system is not ideal for democracy,” he noted, “but we are a ruling party working in line with the aspirations of Nigerians. Citizens have the constitutional right to choose their associations.”
Reflecting on the journey since assuming office in May 2023, the President thanked the Federal Executive Council, the party leadership, and the National Assembly for supporting the government’s vision.
“Together, we pledged to confront Nigeria’s challenges by rebuilding trust, fostering prosperity, and restoring our economic stability. Today, I am proud to affirm that our reforms are working,” he said.
Tinubu cited the elimination of multiple exchange rates and the ongoing tax reforms as key policy actions attracting foreign direct investment and promoting accountability.
Highlighting a recent recovery of over 750 properties by the EFCC from a single individual, Tinubu pointed to the fight against corruption as another cornerstone of his administration.
“We couldn't continue to spend the future of our children and unborn generations. Our reforms are paving the way for a better Nigeria,” he concluded.
