An inmate who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center (OJC) on May 16 has surfaced on social media, pleading for help and denying the charges against him, as the manhunt for him enters its third week.
In a video posted to Instagram, Antoine Massey one of ten inmates who escaped from OJC claimed he was “let out” rather than having broken out. He denied threatening a maintenance worker with a weapon and described both the OJC and St. Tammany Parish jail systems as “corrupt.”
Massey used the video to appeal for help from former U.S. President Donald Trump and rappers Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, and NBA YoungBoy, saying, “Who I was in the past is not who I am today.” He insisted that a domestic abuse battery charge one of the reasons he was jailed was based on a false report from a jealous ex-girlfriend.
Displaying what he claimed were legal affidavits, Massey attempted to show proof of his innocence, stating, “This is the affidavits on a date right here.”
He also accused the State of Louisiana of corruption, arguing that he was being unfairly prosecuted and mistreated while incarcerated. Massey claimed he was facing life imprisonment on charges he says are unjust, and that his escape was a response to that alleged injustice.
Authorities have recaptured eight of the ten inmates who escaped that night. Massey and fellow escapee Derrick Groves remain at large. Over a dozen people have been arrested for allegedly helping the escapees.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the capture of Massey and Groves.
