British singer-songwriter Jessie J has publicly revealed that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.

The 37-year-old artist shared the news on Instagram, explaining that she plans to undergo surgery following her scheduled performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball, set to take place later this month at London’s Wembley Stadium.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she wrote. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.”

Known for her candid nature, Jessie added a touch of humour to her announcement:

“It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I’m going to disappear for a bit after the Summertime Ball to have my surgery — and I’ll be back with massive tits and more music.”

Jessie, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, said she felt compelled to share the diagnosis not just as a way of processing the news herself, but also to connect with and support others going through similar challenges.

“I just wanted to be open and share it,” she continued. “Selfishly, I don’t talk about it enough. I’m not really processing it because I’m working so hard. But I know how much sharing has helped me before — the love, support, and stories from others have always carried me through.”

“It breaks my heart that so many people are going through similar, or even worse. That’s the part that really gets me.”

Reflecting on the journey ahead, she added:

“The timing has been wild — but strangely beautiful. It’s given me a new perspective. Honestly, I just need to talk about it, process it, and yes… I need a hug. You’ve all loved me through the good and the hard — I hope this won’t be any different.”

The diagnosis comes just two years after Jessie welcomed her first child, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023 — a moment of joy following a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2021.
