A 41-year-old Nigerian woman, Sarah Kumama, was arrested in Bengaluru, India, in connection with a transnational cocaine distribution network that has led to the arrest of 25 individuals in Tamil Nadu since January 2025.

Police identified Sarah, who also used the aliases "Happiness" and "Blessings," as a key player in the drug trafficking operation with links across multiple Indian cities, including Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. She was taken into custody by a special police team on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The investigation began on January 25 with the arrest of Fayaz Ahmed, 31, of Royapettah, and S. Chandrasekar, 35, of Koyambedu. Both were apprehended with cocaine by a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit and Choolaimedu police. Fayaz is also facing charges in a separate murder case.

In March, Nigerian nationals Eko Nathanial Chibuzor from Mumbai and Ebere Moses Obogodo from Bengaluru were also arrested. According to police, Nathanial played a significant role in supplying cocaine to peddlers in Chennai.

Other individuals arrested include pub DJ Julian Dishan, 33, and bar manager M. Arunraj, 29, who allegedly distributed cocaine at an establishment in Nungambakkam. Four individuals under the age of 21 were also among those implicated.

“With Sarah's arrest, we’ve taken 25 people into custody linked to this drug network. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional connections,” said a senior investigation officer.

During the crackdown, police recovered 65 grams of cocaine, 1.7 kg of ganja, two grams of ganja oil, four grams of OG ganja, 20 mobile phones, three two-wheelers, three cars, and two weighing machines.
