Media personality Yeni Kuti and PDP chieftain Segun Sowunmi nearly had a heated exchange during a live broadcast on national television today, June 10.

Sowunmi appeared as a guest on TVC’s Your View, where he was interviewed about his recent and unexpected visit to President Bola Tinubu during the Sallah holiday.

The visit raised eyebrows, as Sowunmi has long been a vocal critic of President Tinubu and his administration. His decision to meet the president at his Lagos residence led many Nigerians to speculate that he might be considering a defection to the ruling APC.

During the show, Yeni Kuti posed a pointed question:
“You had a lot of criticism for the President. Now your tone seems to have changed. So when is your move? When are you leaving PDP for APC?”

Sowunmi, clearly irritated, responded sharply:
“Although I can't see who is asking that question… I didn't come on your program so you could be cheeky with me. Stop that!”

Yeni, taken aback but composed, replied:
“I cannot be cheeky with you because I know I’m older than you.”

Upon realizing it was Yeni Kuti who asked the question, Sowunmi quickly backtracked and apologized, saying:
“Oh sister ooo! My Aunty! I take that back. Please don’t be angry.”

The tense but ultimately respectful exchange quickly gained traction online.
