The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, a work-free day in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday evening, July 13, at a medical facility in the United Kingdom.
This was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari.
In a statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation. He described the late president as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was devoted to the service of Nigeria.”
Governor Radda also offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The remains of the former president are expected to arrive in Nigeria today for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
