What is summer without a sun-drenched day out, filled with music, laughter, food, and that unmistakable buzz of community? For many Nigerian families in the UK, the season wouldn’t be complete without the My Tasty Naija Food Festival, and this year’s edition did not disappoint.

I went to this event with my children

Elijah for one, was everywhere exploring with mummy and taking photos like a model that he is..

An extension of the popular online food series Tasty Naija by the UK’s own DJ Abass, the food festival seamlessly merged into the beloved annual family fun fair, creating a vibrant blend of culture, cuisine, and celebration.

Set against the backdrop of the Chingford Rugby Club, the event basked in perfect weather, a welcoming crowd, and a lively atmosphere that felt like pure sunshine. Yours truly attended with my children, and from the first bite to the last laugh, we soaked in the joy.

At every turn, there was something to delight in, from steaming plates of traditional Nigerian dishes to lively vendor stalls showcasing handcrafted ornaments, fashion pieces, home scents, and refreshing drinks. The entire space pulsed with colour, music, and the rich aromas of jollof, grilled suya, and spicy stews.

A standout brand of the day? T40 Perfume. Founder Kemi displayed her signature collection with elegance, from the bold 24th Oud Spray to the soft florals of Posh Rosey and Fearless Oud. The spotlight also shone on her newest creation, Revenge, inspired by the legendary Motown songwriter Gloria Jones. The scent, much like the event, was unforgettable.

Kemi, CEO of T40 Perfume, engaging with prospective clients at the fair- sharing the story behind each scent and the essence of the brand.

It wasn’t just a food festival, it was a celebration of Nigerian enterprise. Events like this are more than just fun; they’re economic boosters, giving visibility to small businesses and igniting pride in African creativity.

The turnout was impressive, the vibes electric. If this year’s festival proved anything, it’s that summer in the UK simply isn’t complete without My Tasty Naija. For those who came, next year is already bookmarked.
