Nigerians on social media were surprised this afternoon when former presidential aide and political commentator, Reno Omokri, took to his social media handle to wish his political ‘rival,’ Peter Obi, a happy birthday.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, turns 64 today, July 19. Reno, who has consistently criticized Obi and seized every opportunity to challenge him, shocked many by publicly celebrating him.

According to Reno, he has no personal hatred for Obi but only speaks out when Obi makes statements that he believes “demarket” Nigeria.

In his words:
“When Peter Obi criticizes the President, do you guys think he hates the President? No! So why do you think I hate him when I oppose him? We cannot be people who are governed by our emotions. If you rule by your emotions, you will be ruled by people who rule their emotions.

Happy 64th birthday, Peter Obi! May God bless you and may God bless Nigeria!”
