U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that the sweeping tariffs he imposed during his administration are driving a resurgence in the American economy, declaring that they are making the United States “great and rich again.”

“Tariffs are making America GREAT & RICH Again,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, as global governments scrambled to reach trade deals with Washington ahead of the August 1 deadline.

Continuing in his typical fiery tone, Trump added:

“One year ago, America was a dead country. Now, it is the ‘hottest’ country anywhere in the world.”
