Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has paid a condolence visit to Her Excellency Aisha Buhari, the widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, at their residence in London.
The visit comes in the wake of the passing of the former president, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 81 in a London hospital.
During the private meeting, Vice President Shettima expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the former First Lady and the entire Buhari family, offering words of comfort and prayers for strength during this difficult time.
While details of the visit remain private, sources close to the family noted that the Vice President also offered condolences on behalf of the Federal Government and assured the Buhari family of the nation's continued respect for the legacy of the late president.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, was a two-time Head of State and a deeply influential figure in the country’s political history.
His remains are expected to arrive in Nigeria shortly for a final burial in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.
