The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party without vision or agenda and is destined for rejection by Nigerians in the 2027 general elections.

The PDP-GF, chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, made the declaration in a communiqué issued on Saturday at the end of its 7th meeting of 2025, held in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The governors reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the party’s National Convention, scheduled for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, holds successfully, describing it as a decisive step toward repositioning the PDP as the credible alternative to the APC.

The Forum emphasized unity and vigilance ahead of the convention while accusing the APC-led Federal Government of intimidation and anti-democratic practices.

“We commend the resilience of our leaders and members in overcoming orchestrated defections. Such distractions cannot diminish our strong grassroots appeal or the growing public yearning for the return of affordable living and relative security experienced under PDP-led administrations,” the communiqué read.

The governors urged members and supporters to resist all efforts by what they termed “anti-party forces” seeking to derail the party’s progress.

“This sad situation only reflects the desperation of a political party with no agenda, no vision, and doomed to face inevitable rejection by the masses,” they added.

The Forum also reiterated its commitment to the resolutions of the PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in July 2025, insisting that the November convention must go ahead as planned.

On recent political developments, the governors condemned the “over-militarisation, irregularities, and violence” witnessed during the August 9, 2025, by-election, describing it as another proof of the APC’s “anti-democratic tendencies.” They urged Nigerians to be more vigilant in safeguarding their votes.

Turning to security, the Forum commended the Zamfara State government’s efforts in combating insecurity but expressed grave concern over ongoing killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, and Benue States.

“We call on the Federal Government to be more responsive to the lives and properties of Nigerians,” the communiqué stated.

The governors also expressed gratitude to the Zamfara State government for hosting the meeting, praising Governor Dauda Lawal for “exemplary leadership and notable achievements in infrastructure, health, education, social services, and security.”

They further commiserated with the people of Zamfara over the death of the Emir of Gusau, as well as with the people of Oyo State on the recent passing of traditional rulers.
