The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade.

The spokesperson for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Mr. Moses Olafare, has dismissed the 48-hour ultimatum issued by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, calling it “an empty threat from a dead empire.”

This comes after the Alaafin demanded that the Ooni withdraw the Oluomo of Yorubaland chieftaincy title recently conferred on a prominent business mogul.

Reacting via his social media page on Tuesday, in a post monitored by Vanguard, Olafare described the ultimatum as laughable and those behind it as “jokers.”

“The Ooni is focused on creating jobs and empowering youths across Yorubaland, while some individuals are stuck in a supremacy battle rooted in an expired legacy,” he said.

Olafare added:

“Ooni is busy setting up businesses and creating jobs for youths across Yorubaland; meanwhile, they are busy chasing a supremacy that no longer exists. Dead empire!

Their 48-hour ultimatum is almost up. We’re watching. Dead empire!

While the Ooni is preparing for the groundbreaking of Ojaja Smart City in Ibadan set to be the biggest in Africa someone else is wasting time issuing empty threats.”

He concluded by questioning the relevance of such ultimatums in the face of real developmental efforts, asking:

“Where does this king (Ooni) have time for supremacy hullabaloo?”
