The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has launched a formal investigation into the incident involving passenger Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air crew member, Julie Edwards.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, disclosed this on X, noting that multiple directorates of the authority are working together to ensure a fair and thorough probe.
“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the Ibom Air crew involved in the Comfort Emmanson incident as part of ongoing investigations. Later today, Emmanson herself will meet with the authority, accompanied by her lawyer,” Achimugu stated.
He added that the directorates of Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection were collaborating on the matter.
The development follows a viral video showing Emmanson in a heated altercation with airline staff at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
Although the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) initially placed a lifetime no-fly ban on her, the sanction was later lifted after the case was withdrawn in court.
