Veteran Nollywood actor Clem Ohameze has publicly debunked recent claims that he was seriously ill and abandoned by his children, describing the reports as false and damaging.

The actor revealed that a Facebook user, identified as Okwulora, spread the misinformation online, falsely alleging that Ohameze suffered a stroke and was only being cared for by his daughter while his sons had abandoned him. The same individual reportedly attempted to solicit funds on the actor’s behalf without his consent.

In a video shared on social media, his first public appearance in a while, Clem Ohameze set the record straight. He made it clear that he does not have three sons, contrary to the viral claims. He also expressed frustration over the failure of the poster to verify the information before publishing it.

“I have initiated a police case. I’ve sent his name and number to the authorities. This is cybercrime,” Ohameze stated. “I called my friend who is a director in the DSS. It has cost me a lot to get to where I am in life, and I will not allow anyone tarnish my image just for cheap popularity or page traffic.”

The actor further condemned the trend of spreading false news about celebrities for clout, recalling how similar rumors once falsely claimed he had died.

“The other time, they said I was dead. Now it’s that I had a stroke. Who did I even grant an interview to? Do I have three sons? What nonsense is this? Why not call and verify before posting such damaging lies?” he said angrily.

Ohameze also revealed that he had to reach out to his children after the rumors surfaced. Fortunately, only his daughter became aware of the post.

“Now my name has been dragged all over the world. I guess he’s satisfied,” he lamented. “Why would anyone do this to me?”
