Afrobeats star Omah Lay has publicly accused fellow artist Rema of copying the creative concept for his upcoming album, sharing what he claims are screenshots of past private chats to back his allegation.
The controversy follows an earlier interview where Omah Lay hinted that a trusted colleague had used his ideas without permission. He said that after the artist released an album based on those concepts, he was forced to return to the studio and rebuild his own project from scratch.
Recently leaked messages, allegedly from Omah Lay’s secondary account, appear to show 2023 conversations between the two about collaborating and experimenting with a new sound. The screenshots depict the pair exchanging ideas and discussing potential joint work before relations reportedly soured.
