Spokesperson for Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has taken a swipe at political activist Omoyele Sowore, accusing him of living lavishly while funding his son’s education abroad.

In a social media post, Olayinka alleged that Sowore pays $163,815 (about ₦250 million) annually as tuition for his 14-year-old son, Komi, who reportedly attends the Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey, U.S.

According to Olayinka, the tuition fee is $54,605 (₦85 million) per term, excluding other costs such as a $700 iPad requirement.

He went on to brand Sowore a “cashtivist”, claiming without providing evidence that the Sahara Reporters founder finances the payments through “blackmail” and foreign grants.

“The cashtivist is paying $163,815 per annum as tuition fee plus $700 for iPad on his 14-year-old son! That’s how he is lavishing the millions he is getting from blackmailing people and grants,” Olayinka wrote.

As of the time of this report, Sowore has not responded to Olayinka’s claims.
