Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has stirred conversations online after declaring that no Nigerian actress could afford a luxury Mercedes G-Wagon SUV solely from acting income.
In a recent interview, Solade argued that the film industry does not generate enough money to support such high-end purchases. According to him, acting alone cannot provide the level of wealth required, suggesting that actresses who own such vehicles must have additional sources of income.
“No actress can say she bought her G-Wagon from the money made from acting, because how much do they earn?” he said.
Netizens React
The statement quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions:
-
@klintzeal_mix: “Probably they invested the little money they were earning.”
-
@orobo4sure: “Wahalla, how are they making their money then?”
-
@TkakaBariga: “I know a few of them that can easily boast of buying a G-Wagon from acting, Funke Akindele and co can.”
-
@PabloVenz0: “Everybody mentioning Funke Akindele lol. The man said make money from acting, not producing. Besides, Funke has plenty investments.”
-
@SarahAkinyemi7: “Wumi Toriola can say she bought herself a private jet from acting ‘cause she dey act wonders.”

What about the men? Are they not in the same profession?
You of course know what he is insinuating?
When women make it through their hard work, they are prostitutes selling themselves and using their hard work as a front.
When men including those that live off women or steal from unsuspecting women, make it, it’s genuine.
He must be another garri & ewedu leach eating from a hard working woman’s pot and using his dirty mouth to rubbish women.
Onye ara like him.
Exactly.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that our ladies are smarter than many of them.
We are hustlers by nature and the wise ones invest every penny they make while the boys are showing off big cars and trying to impress women.
What does he have to say about my powerful ladies Funke Akindele whose move raked in over a billion, Genevive Nnaji who is into real estate etc?
They are better and richer than many of the boys.
Mad man.
