As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that Abuja remains one of the safest places to live in the country.
Wike credited the city’s relative peace and security to strong collaboration between government authorities and residents who, he said, have remained committed to unity and peaceful coexistence.
“Residents have remained intentional about living together in peace and harmony in spite of a few distractions. Consequently, the FCT has become one of the most peaceful places to reside in the entire country,” the minister stated.
While acknowledging security concerns in other regions, Wike noted that the FCT has distinguished itself as a model of stability. He praised citizens for their vigilance and urged continued cooperation with law enforcement through timely reporting of suspicious activities.
“The Abuja experience shows that progress is possible when citizens and government work hand in hand,” Wike said. “As we mark 65 years of nationhood, let us look forward with renewed hope. The FCT will continue to stand as the symbol of our unity, our resilience, and indeed, one of the safest places to call home in Nigeria.”
