The arrest of Nigerian national Adegbola Adedapo in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Stephanie Irons has sparked outrage across the UK, especially following a controversial Facebook post he made prior to the incident.
Adegbola, 40, was charged with one count of murder after Stephanie’s body was discovered on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He made his first court appearance on Saturday, October 25.
What has intensified public anger is a Facebook post Adegbola shared nearly a year earlier, on October 19, 2024, where he wrote:
“At some point in life, you have to be okay with being the bad guy and never getting a chance to tell your own side. Anyone who will judge based off a single story is not who you want to be explaining yourself to anyway.”
The post resurfaced following his arrest and drew fierce reactions from members of the British public, many of whom interpreted it as a chilling reflection of his alleged actions.
One user, Jake James, commented:
“Murdering bastard, hope you get what’s coming to you! Actually disgusting.”
Another, George Swain, added:
“Let’s see how our English prison treats a woman-murdering scumbag like you.”
Louise Gunning wrote:
“Well you certainly lived up to your status of being a bad guy didn’t you. I hope you never see daylight ever again. RIP to the poor girl whose life you ended.”
The case has reignited conversations around violence against women and the role of social media in shaping public perception. As the legal process unfolds, many are watching closely, demanding justice for Stephanie and accountability for those responsible.
