Jennifer Aniston has spoken candidly about her decision not to adopt children, even after facing years of infertility struggles.

Appearing on a Wondery+ early access episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, The Morning Show star, 56, shared that while she once pursued in vitro fertilization (IVF), she ultimately found peace in accepting that motherhood wasn’t part of her journey.

Reflecting on her experience, Aniston said she’s reached a calm acceptance:

“It’s so peaceful,” she explained. “But there was a point where it was out of my control. There’s literally nothing I could do about it.”

When co-host Monica Padman brought up the option of adoption, Aniston was clear about her feelings.

“When people say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt,” she said. “I want my own DNA in a little person. That’s the only way — selfish or not, that’s what I’ve always wanted.”

The actress admitted that while she occasionally meets someone and briefly wonders what kind of children they might have had together, those thoughts quickly pass.

“You romanticize it for a moment because it’s out of your control,” she said. “It just wasn’t in the plan, whatever the plan was.”

Aniston has long been open about her fertility challenges and the public speculation surrounding them. Her remarks underscore a deeper message about acceptance and autonomy that fulfillment can take many forms, and peace sometimes comes from letting go of what’s beyond your control.
