Alice and Ellen Kessler the legendary German twin entertainers known across Europe as The Kessler Sisters — have died at the age of 89.

Police were called to their home near Munich on Monday, where the iconic duo was found dead.
According to reports from the German Humanist Association, the twins chose to end their lives together through an assisted suicide, as shared by Ynetnews.

The Kessler Twins were towering figures in post-war European entertainment — singers, dancers, cabaret headliners, and cultural favourites who ruled stages from Paris to Rome.

Born in East Germany in the 1930s, they fled with their family to Düsseldorf after the war, trained in ballet, and launched their careers at the legendary Lido cabaret in Paris before they even turned 20.

By the 1960s, they were global sensations, sharing stages with icons like Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Harry Belafonte.
They eventually settled in Rome, where their fame in Italy reached even greater heights.

The sisters, who never married, lived together throughout their lives. Reports say they requested to have their ashes placed in a single urn — a final tribute to the inseparable bond that defined them and captivated the world.
