President Donald Trump has insisted he has “nothing to hide” as he directed House Republicans to vote in favor of releasing files tied to Jeffrey Epstein.
In a Truth Social post on Sunday evening, Trump dismissed the entire topic as a “Democrat Hoax” designed to distract from what he called the “great success of the Republican Party.” His comments came shortly after landing at Joint Base Andrews following a weekend trip to Florida.
“We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics who want to deflect from the great success of the Republican Party,” Trump wrote.
Trump also shared a post from attorney David Schoen — who represented him during his second impeachment trial — arguing that if Epstein had anything damaging on Trump, prosecutors would have had leverage before Epstein died. Schoen pointed out that Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most vocal accusers, testified under oath that Trump “did nothing inappropriate.”
Trump’s latest stance marks a sharp shift from earlier in the week, when he attacked Republicans such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie for supporting the release of the files. By Sunday night, however, he openly called on House Republicans to vote in favor.
“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files,” he wrote. “We have nothing to hide.”
Trump claimed his Justice Department had already turned over “tens of thousands of pages” of documents related to Epstein, and suggested the files could be more damaging to Democrats like Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, and Reid Hoffman.
“The House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to,” he added. “I DON’T CARE!”
He also argued that Democrats ignored Epstein while he was alive, adding: “If they had anything, they would have released it before our landslide election victory.”
Trump warned that some Republicans are being “used” and urged the party to stop “falling into the Epstein trap,” calling it “a curse on the Democrats, not us.”
Later Sunday night, he doubled down: “It’s a Democrat Hoax for purposes of deflection, just like the Russia, Russia, Russia scam. They had the sleazy relationships with Epstein, and should be prosecuted.”
Trump also reignited his feud with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, taking another jab at her and accusing her of creating her own problems.
