The recognition celebrates her outstanding contributions to strengthening the bond between the Edo State Government and its diaspora community, as well as her forward-thinking initiatives promoting inclusive development, global collaboration, and sustainable progress.
A UK-trained Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Ogboro-Okor is a graduate of the University of Benin and holds advanced degrees in Public Health and Clinical Education. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Law and Criminology. Beyond medicine, she’s also an author, poet, social entrepreneur, and advocate for youth and women empowerment, guided by the values of dignity, service, and resilience.
As the first Director General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. Ogboro-Okor has transformed the institution into a strategic bridge linking Edo indigenes around the world with opportunities for investment, cultural unity, and development.
Through visionary programmes and partnerships — including the recently concluded Global Investment Summit in Scotland — she has turned diaspora remittances into productive investments across key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, renewable energy, and technology, positioning Edo State as a model for diaspora-led development in Africa.
In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Ogboro-Okor expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, saying:
“This award is a reminder that leadership is not about position, but about impact and service. I dedicate this recognition first to God Almighty, my beloved husband, children, family, and true friends who inspire me. I also dedicate it to all diasporans who continue to contribute to our nation’s growth with unparalleled passion, purpose, and resilience.”
She further appreciated the Executive Governor of Edo State, whom she described as “quietly performing and people-oriented,” adding that his leadership “reminds us that every Edo life matters, wherever they are in the world.”
Commending her impact, Victor Udoh, Founder of Cotroy Media and host of the African Global Excellence Awards, said:
“Dr. Ogboro-Okor embodies the spirit of African excellence — visionary, committed, and people-centered. Her leadership in diaspora engagement is a shining model for others across the continent.”
