Author and political commentator Reno Omokri says IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu could have channelled his massive popularity into a non-violent political movement that would have transformed the South-East region.

In a post shared on Instagram, Omokri argued that Kanu had enough influence to establish a political party capable of winning governorship and senatorial seats. According to him, such democratic power could have been used to push for constitutional changes, including a possible plebiscite.

Sharing a video of Kanu’s supporters gathered outside his Abia residence, Omokri wrote:

“Nnamdi Kanu could have used this popularity non-violently to start a party to elect governors and senators to push his case for a plebiscite.”

He suggested that instead of confrontation with the state, Kanu could have taken advantage of democratic structures to advocate for the reforms he wanted for the South-East.
